Whiff of Joy Challenge 57

Hello everyone, this is a late post for me today! Apologies for not being around much this week, I have been feeling a bit under the weather and have been a bad blogger, but I promise I will catch up with my commenting as soon as I can. This card is for WOJ Challenge 57 where they have a nice easy theme of christmas this week.

For my card I have used the beautiful WOJ Willow with Lantern and I have coloured her with distress inks and embellished with stickles. The gorgeous DPs were a gift and I'm not sure of the brand. I have pierced the corner of the image for a bit of detail and the charm, flowers etc are from my stash. The sentiment was done on my PC.

I have done another very similar card so I thought I would show you them both on this one post. The sentiment on the second card is from studio g, that's the main difference really!

Supplies
Card/Paper: White and blue card, DPs from stash
Stamps: WOJ - Willow with Lantern, studio g
Colouring: Distress inks - tattered rose, vintage photo, weathered wood, broken china, walnut stain, spiced marmalade, black soot, peeled paint, fired brick
Embellishments: Flowers, charms, chain, PM pearl brads, ribbon, stickles
Tools: Cuttlebug, nesties, leone em branch punch, MS snowflake punch, needle for piercing

Creative Inspirations Challenge 37

Hello everyone, this is my final week of begin a GDT member for Creative Inspirations, I can't believe how quick the time has passed! We have a sketch for this week's challenge created by Nat and it is a sketch I will use again and again.

My image is from Penny Black and she is coloured with distress inks. The DPs were all a gift and I'm not sure where they are from, but they are all nice and bright and christmasy. I got out my sewing machine and stitched around all of the elements....... I'm not very good with it and have dabbled in the past, but I am determined to stick with it this time so you may see more sewing popping up here and there..... I am struggling a bit with trying to get the right tension for the bobbin (the bottom one)... if anyone has any hints maybe you could let me know?!!

Supplies
Card/Paper: White and red card, DPs from stash
Stamps: Penny Black
Colouring: Distress inks - fired brick, faded jeans, tattered rose, broken china
Embellishments: Ribbon
Tools: Sewing Machine, cuttlebug, snowflake folder, nesties

For my card I have masked Tilda with Yulehat so she is sitting on the Big Christmas Ornament and both are from the Magnolia Christmas Collection 2008. My image is coloured with distress inks and embellished with silver stickles for a bit of bling! The embossing has been done using my snowflake folder and the flowers, ribbon etc are from my stash.

Gift Card Holder Tutorial

Here is a quick tutorial to show you how I make my gift card holders.

Step 1: Take a piece of card measuring 25 x 10 cms and score at 5 cms and 15 cms - on the image I have marked the score lines in black so they are easier to see.

Step 2: Turn the card and score at 1 cm and 9 cms

Step 3: Cut and remove the pieces as shown in the picture and shape the remaining tabs by cutting off the corners.

Step 4: Fold along all the score lines and apply double sided tape or a strong glue of your choice to the back side of the tabs.

Step 5: Remove the backing tape, fold and adhere to form a small pocket for your gift card.

Step 6: Your basic gift card holder is complete, all you need to do now is decorate it! It will stay close on its own or you can choose to keep it closed by using a small magnet, velcro or like me, incorporate a ribbon into your design.

For my finished gift card holder the papers are from DCWV, I have used my snowflake folder for the embossing and Tilda with Yulehat is from the Magnolia Christmas Collection 2008.

Cupcake Challenge 67

Hello everyone, Cupcake Challenge 67 has a theme of Gift Card Holder this week..... nice and useful for this time of year becasue as well as gift cards they are also useful to give money in as a gift.

I have used Tilda with Yulehat from the Magnolia Christmas Collection 2008 and she is coloured with distress inks. The paper is from DCWV and the embossing has been done with my snowflake folder. The ribbon she is sitting on, wraps around the back and is tied to keep it closed, although the front is heavy enough to keep closed itself I just thought the ribbon looked nice incorporated into the design.

The inside is decorated with the same DP as the front, and I have added a panel where a greeting can be written.

This week we are lucky enough to be sponsored by Soft Pencil Digital Stamps and Elizabeth has very kindly offered a $20 gift voucher to spend in their store.

The rest of the DT have made some fabulous gift card holders, so pop over and take a look. I will be posting a tutorial shortly on how I made mine, so pop back later if you are interested.

Stamps: Magnolia - Tilda with Yulehat - Christmas Collection 2008

Hello everyone, today's card is for Sunday Sketch & Stamp Challenge 15 where they have a fabulous sketch this week and Creative Card Crew Challenge 37 where the theme is to use string. I was looking through my stash of stamped images and found this cutie, I have also just bought some MME Wild Asparagus DPs and I thought I'll make a card for a BOY! I don't usually make male cards unless I have to and I think all mine turn out drab, but this one came together easily and I really like how it turned out..... maybe I have turned a corner and come out of my male card making block!!!lol!!!

The cute little image is from Hanglar and I got it in a swap with a blog bud. He is coloured with distress inks and highlighted with my inkssentials pen. The DPs are MME and I have inked the edges of all the elements with distress ink. I also had a mental block when it came to distressing papers..... I still can't tear them or rough them up but I can now manage a bit of inking!!! lol! I think for this male card the inking really added a bit of depth and I'm pleased with the end result. The buttons, brads and twine are all from my stash and the ticket is from Tim Holtz.

My usual close up.

Supplies
Card/Paper: White and grey card, MME - Wild Asparagus
Stamps: Hanglar

Stamptacular Challenge 33

Hello everyone, today on Stamptacular Challenge 33 we have a theme of "Turkey Time" where you have to make a thanksgiving card and if you include a turkey, you get entered for the draw twice.

This week our sponsors are the fabulous Simon Says Stamp and the prize is a $25 gift certificate + free shipping.

As you can see, I have just made a simple thank you card for my interpretation of the challenge. We don't celebrate thanksgiving here like they do in the US so this is my version!

My sentiment is from WOJ and my DPs are from papermania. The ribbon and pearls are from my stash. Because this card is CAS I have used a 5 x 5" card blank again so there wouldn't be loads of open space!

Supplies
Card/Paper: Black, White and pink card. Papermania - Regency
Stamps: WOJ - General sayings set
Embellishments: Ribbon, pearls
Tools: Cuttlebug, nesties
