My Favourite Five Christmas Cards

Hello everyone, I hope you have all had a fabulous christmas and santa brought you all some lovely prezzies! Today I just have a quick post and I thought it would be fun to join in with Debby's favourite five

So here are my top five, in no particular order.......

I picked this one as I love the colour combo and I think these are my favourite christmas DPs this year.

I love the simplicity of these cards, I love how the poinsettia turned out and the general look of the cards....less is more in this case!

Again, the colour combo and one of my favourite Tildas....she is so versatile and can be used all year round.

This card has loads of bling in real life and I loved the way it turned out, its just unfortunate we don't have bling cam just yet!

Finally, I love this cute hanglar girl so she just had to feature in my top five. I love all the layers on this card too.... definitely not one for cheap postage!!

Well, that's it. Thanks for stopping by today and I will have my favourite five from 2010 next week. x

CAS Poinsettia

Hello everyone, today I have a CAS card to show you that was really easy to make but looks really effective.....well I think so anyway! This month my fellow cupcakes have a challenge between us with a theme of "no image" so this card is perfect for the job!

For my card I used a Creatables Poinsettia die, for the card above I used the smaller die. I cut and embossed a shape out of red card and before I removed it from the die I sponged it with fired brick distress ink. I then removed it from the die and sponged the edges to add some definition. I repeated this again with red card and once with green card. When all of my shapes were cut I shaped them with a ball tool and I used liquid glue to stick them together. For the centre I used black card and I added a jewel to finish off.

The embossed background was done with my snowflake folder and the sentiment is computer generated. Finally, I stitched around the edge to finish off.

The final picture is of the two cards I made, the top one was made with the small die and the other one was made with the large die.

Supplies
Card/Paper: Red, green, black and white card
Ink: Distress inks - fired brick and peeled paint
Embellishments: Jewels
Tools: Cuttlebug, creatables poinsettia die, snowflake folder, sewing machine, ball tool, TH ink applicator tool

Cupcake Challenge 119

Hello everyone, today on Cupcake Challenge 119 we have a theme of "Light it up" and we would like to see a candle somewhere on your card or project. This week we are sponsored by The Character Cafe and they are offering one lucky winner a $10 gift voucher as a prize. Apologies for the yellowish hue on my photo, the light was bad and the paper has a creamy/goldenish finish which didn't help!!

For my card I have used Willow with Lantern from Whiff of Joy.....love this stamp, I think she looks so elegant..... and I have coloured her with distress inks and added some sparkle with red stickles. The DP is from Fancy Pants and the ribbon, charm and jewels are from my stash.

Both the centre panel with the ribbon threaded through and the poinsettia have been created with creatables dies. For the poinsettia I used the smaller die in the pack and I cut and embossed two red shapes and one green one. Before I removed my shape from the die I sponged the red ones with fired brick distress ink and the green one with peeled paint to make the embossed elements really stand out. I then removed the shape from the die and I sponged around the edges. Finally I shaped them with a embossing ball tool, glued them together with a small blob of liquid glue and I added a golden jewel to the centre.

Also, don't forget our Cupcake Madness this month which is sponsored by Some Odd Girl, and make sure you check out the creations make by the other cupcakes....awesome!

Supplies
Card/Paper: Ivory and red card, Fancy Pants
Stamps: Willow with Lantern - WOJ, Sentiment - Studio G
Colouring: Distress inks - tattered rose, vintage photo, antique linen, walnut stain, weathered wood, black soot, peeled paint, spiced marmalade, fired brick
Embellishments: Jewels, red stickles, ribbon, bell charm
Tools: Cuttlebug, nesties, creatables dies

CAS Christmas

Hello everyone, the card I have made today is certainly the quickest card I have ever made! My fellow cupcakes and I have a challenge among ourselves and this month the theme is CAS christmas. Well this couldn't have come at a better time as I vowed that this year I would try and come up with a design that would be quick for me to do so I wouldn't be frantically making christmas cards at the last minute.

Well I love doing CAS cards but I always colour an image and at least one piece of DP slips its way into the design, but I was determind to try something else. I don't have many just stamping stamps.... you know the kind I mean where you just stamp the image and its done.... mine are mostly stamp an image and colour it in types.... but I hunted through my Magnolias and found two snowflakes and a sentiment..... perfect!....but what to do with them........

....well as always I always find so much inspiration from my fellow bloggers and I just LOVE the cards that Sarita at Little Princess Cards produces....if you haven't been there check out her blog it is just fantastic! So filled with ideas this is what I made.....

I think it looks a little better in real life as it is a bit of a dull day today and my picture hasn't turned out too well.... but I'm really pleased with how the card turned out. I might just try and do a few more CAS cards in the future.... I think I have the bug!!

Supplies
Card/Paper: White and pink card
Stamps: Magnolia Christmas Collection 2008
Embellishments: Ribbon
Tools: Cuttlebug, nesties

I'm Back with Hugs!

Hello everyone, I am back from my hols in Florida. We had such a great time but I think I left my mojo in the states as it has taken me ages to get back into the swing of it again. However this week I managed to pick up a copic and use some of the new stash I bought while I was away. The card I have made fits the following challenges; I used the sketch from Friday Sketchers Challenge 125, this week's Simon Says has a theme of punches and die cuts, Totally Gorjuss Challenge 53 has a theme of sparkle, Just Magnolia Week 78 has a theme of pink, and this week's Papertake Challenge has a theme of sparkly and bright.

For my card I have used Tilda Wants a Hug from the Magnolia Merry Little Christmas Collection 2010 and I have coloured her with copics...... although having been away for a while and out of practice I had to paper piece the dress to hide a bad colour choice and naff colouring!!!! The DP is from K & Co and the ribbon and jewels are from my stash. The flourish die cut was cut with a Marianne Creatables die and I stitched around the edges of all the elements with my sewing machine.

I know that technically this is a christmas stamp but I have added two little star shaped jewels to her hair and I hope the holly leaves aren't too obvious!!

Supplies
Card/Paper: Green and ivory card, K & Co - Small Wonders Girl
Stamps: Magnolia - Tilda Wants a Hug - Merry Little Christmas Collection 2010

Congratulations! Please can you contact me with your mailing address and your choice of stamp from the new collection to liza.carruthers@yahoo.com

Christmas tree o christmas tree

Hello everyone, today I have my second post for Belles 'n Whistles and I am using a gorgeous accessory stamp from the new Changeabelles collection. From time to time we all need to make multiple cards be it for christmas cards, invitations, thank you cards or just a set of pretty notelets and the new Belles 'n Whistles collection has stamps for all those occasions and the accessory stamps are perfect for the job!

I have used the christmas tree accessory stamp to make a simple but effective card and tag set. The image took me hardly any time to colour with my copics and I have added some red and gold stickles to the baubles for a bit of sparkle. For the embossing I used my snowflake folder and the gorgeous ribbon and jewels are from my stash.... the photo doesn't do the ribbon justice in real life it has a nice gold metallic sheen!

Here is a closer look at just the card, using a simple layout it would take no time at all to whip up a dozen cards!

I love the accessory stamps in this new collection because they are so versatile the possibilities are endless! The new collection of stamps are available for pre-order now and shipping will begin next week, so hop on over to the Belles 'n Whistles shop to take a look.

It's Your Day

Hi everyone, this is my first GDT post that is on the Belles 'n Whistles blog. The inspiration came to me for this card while I was making some cupcakes the other day....but all I can say is that I wish my cupcakes had turned out like hers!! I think I have a long way to go before I can achieve that!!! lol! I am also entering this card into Charisma Cardz Challenge 38 where the theme is anything goes.

This gorgeous stamp is called Cupcake and I have coloured her with copics. The DPs are my all time favourite from Papermania and the doily has been cut with a Marianne Creatables die. The sentiment is from Crafty Sentiments and I have finished off with some ribbon, jewels and some pink and blue stickles on her hat.

Tip: I have a little tip for you today that will help you when you are using the marianne creatables dies. If, like me, you find that you have difficulty removing your die cut from the die and lots of little bits of card/paper become stuck in the die after you have cut and removed your shape....well, try putting a bit of wax paper or baking parchment between the die and your card/DP, run it through your die cutting maching and your shape and all the little bits will easily pop out of the die.

Supplies
Card/Paper: White, blue and pink card, Papermania - Blueberry Hill
Stamps: Belles 'n Whistles - Cupcake, Sentiment - Crafty Sentiments
Colouring: Copics - E00, E11, R20, E50, E51, E53, E31, E25, B93, B95, B97, RV000, RV10, RV13, R37, B00, B23, YG03, YG67, C1, C3, W1, W3,W5, W7, 0
Embellishments: Ribbon, jewels, stickles
Tools: Sewing machine, cuttlebug, Marianne Creatables die
