Penny Black Challenge 16

The Penny Black Challenge 16 was "seasons", so I chose to make a card with a winter theme. I used white and blue card, the penny black image is coloured with whispers markers, the papers are from the dovecraft winter wonderland range, I punched snowflakes in sliver and white and added stickles to the white ones, the sentiment was done on my computer using the font segoe print and I finished it off with three little jewels.

They've Arrived!

I struggle to get any crafting goodies over here in Spain so I have to rely on mail order, but my parents have just arrived and they have brought over a load of stuff for me..... more dovecraft papers, watercolour pencils, some stickles, a snowflake punch, some embossing tools and several dozen stamped images that I bought on ebay after a bidding frenzy!! I can't wait to get going!!!

Kaboodle Challenge 4

The Kaboodle Challenge 4 was to use a non-traditional embellishment. I got my thinking cap on and managed to come up with a very uninspirational paper clip!!! Believe it or not, I have made yet another christmas card and I have used white and green card, the papers are from the kaboodle party picnic range, the penny black image is coloured with my whispers markers, I decorated the paper clip with a snowflake peel off sticker and I finished off with three small jewels and a chipboard sentiment (another kind donation by my boyfriends mum).

Cupcake Challenge 6

I have a two day turn around between my boyfriend's parents leaving and mine arriving for a two week visit so I thought I'd get a couple of cards done while I can!! The Cupcake Challenge 6 was to follow a sketch so I have done yet another christmas card. I have used cream and red card, and the papers and the self adhesive ribbon are both from the dovecraft contemporary christmas range. I must say a huge thank you to my boyfriend's mum, Jill, as she brought over these papers and loads of other crafting things for me. She also brought her cuttlebug for me to have a go with and I must say I was well impressed..... I know what is going on my christmas list now!!

Lily Card & Box

This was a card I made for my boyfriend's Mum's birthday. I used pink and cream card, printer paper to make the flower, whispers markers to colour it and the sentiment is a silver peel off. I followed a tutorial on Joanne's blog to make the lily and I was very pleased with how it came out.
Because the lily stands out on the card I had to make a box for it to go in as it wouldn't go in a regular envelope. The box is made from cream card and it is decorated with pink card and paper from the dovecraft hint of pink range.

Cupcake Challenge 5

The Cupcake Challenge 5 was to follow a sketch. I have used white and blue card, the paper is a free download from printable heaven, the cute little stamp has been coloured in with my whispers markers and the sentiment has been done on my computer using the font segoe print.

Waiting for Fall

This is my entry for a contest on Bitten by the BUG. The challenge is to make a holiday themed item and use something cut out from a cricut. I don't have one but fortunately my boyfriend's Mum has come up trumps again and I have borrowed hers to cut out the leaves. I have used brown, cream, red, dark green and orange card, two shades of brown whispers markers, a gold ink pad and the sentiment was done on my computer using the font vivaldi.

I scribbled onto a tile with the brown markers and lightly sponged each leaf, then I sponged a layer of gold over them and I used a paint brush to edge each leaf with gold. When they were dry I used my scorer to score veins in them and I embossed each one so it would stand up from the card. The cream card they are mounted on and the sentiment were also sponged around the edges with the browns and gold. I was really pleased with how this card turned out as this is yet another new technique to me, but unfortunately the picture doesn't really do it justice as the gold glistens when it catches the light.

Christmas Brights

I thought making a bright, contemporary christmas card would be fun and I have just stumbled upon the Pollycrafts Challenge so thought it would be ideal for that. I have used black and hot pink card, the penny black image is coloured in with whispers markers (what else!!!), the spotty paper is a free download from Printable Heaven and I did the sentiment on my computer using the font Tempus Sans ITC.

Dutch Dare Challenge 14

The Dutch Dare Challenge 14 was to follow a sketch. It is the first time I have entered a Dutch Dare challenge and I loved the sketch. I have used white, red and dark green card, the penny black image is coloured in with whispers markers, the snowflake paper used for the trim was a free download from printable heaven and I did the sentiment on my computer using the font bradley hand ITC. I watercoloured the ice on the image and I used foam squares to raise up the sentiment.

2 Sketches 4 You - Laura's Sketch 8

Another fab sketch from Laura on 2 Sketches 4 You this week and I am on a roll with the Christmas cards!!! I have used white and red card, the paper is a free download from printables heaven, I coloured the penny black image with my whispers markers and I did the sentiment on my computer using the font segoe script.

Spoon Full of Sugar Challenge 16

Challenge 16 on Spoon Full of Sugar was to follow a sketch. I loved this weeks sketch and will use this layout again for certain. I decided to make a start on my Christmas cards and I have used white, blue and navy card, the paper is a free download from printable heaven, the penny black image has been coloured in with my trusty whispers markers and the sentiment was done on my computer using the font segoe script. I tried a bit of water colouring on the red breast of the robin so that it wouldn't look too bold.

Kaboodle Challenge 2 & Cupcake Challenge 4

The Kaboodle Challenge 2 was to incorporate spots on your design and the Cupcake Challenge 4 had a cupcake theme. After I had made my card I realised that it would work for both challenges..... so I managed a 2 in 1 and didn't even realise!! I used white cardstock to make a diamond fold card and the papers are from the Kaboodle party picnic range and the multicoloured spotty one is a free download from Printable Heaven. The Kaboodle party picnic papers are so cute and the multicoloured spotty one worked really well with them - I think I will be using this combo time and time again! Apologies for the naf photos, it was a bit sunny and where ever I took them I ended up with dark shadows!!

Penny Black Challenge 13

The Penny Black Challenge 13 was to create a card for a girl.....not too difficult!! I used pale yellow, white and pink card, the papers are free downloads from Printable Heaven, I coloured the penny black image in with my whispers markers and I did the sentiment on my computer using the font segoe script. I decided to have a bit of a go at water colouring on the petals of the flower, hence they are a bit pale!!

Sarah Kay Challenge Week 10

The Sarah Kay week 10 challenge was to follow a sketch. I have used cream and white card, paper from the Dovecraft Aqua range, the sarah kay stamp is coloured in with whispers markers, two die cut flowers, a small jewel for the centre of the flowers, three small iridescent flowers and the sentiment is a silver peel off. I think the backing paper I have used is really pretty, but it is a shame the stamped image covers up most of the flower - I obviously wasn't thinking about this when I decided to use it!!!! I slightly embossed the die cut flowers to make them stand up from the card and I finished them off with a small jewel in the centre.

A Spoon Full of Sugar Challenge 15

Challenge 15 on A Spoon Full of Sugar was to make anything but a card. I decided to make a little bag and I used cream, white, black and orange card, the stamp is penny black, I coloured it in with my whispers markers and I attached each side of the handle with some black brads. I made the tags for the back and didn't have any ribbon that would go, so I cut a thin piece of card to do the job. I did the sentiment on my computer and the font is segoe script.

I Won.....

I can't believe I have won the amazing candy that Sally was giving away. I'm so chuffed and I can't wait for it to arrive. It will be a much need addition to my small (but slowly increasing) stash.

Mellow Yellow

My friend asked me to make a card for her to give to someone for a fortieth birthday. I used white and pale yellow card, the papers are from K & Co daisy range, some die cut flowers, a thin piece of green card for the vine, four little jewels and the sentiment is a silver peel off. I was inspired by Chris for the layout of this card and I think it will be something that I will used again. Each of the squares are 1 x 1 inch and I embossed the flowers a little to make them stand up from the card, although I don't think this shows up in the picture too well.

Cupcake Challenge 3

The Cupcake Challenge 3 was to make an ATC. Another new one for me so I decided to have a practice at my flower making technique. I followed the tutorial on Joanne's blog for her no tools flower and I used pink paper and my Whispers Markers to add a bit of detail. The flower is mounted onto Dovecraft paper from the Amethyst range and matted onto white card. I used green card and wavy scissors to create the trim and I finished it off with a small bow made from 3mm pink satin ribbon.

CCT Challenge 26 & 2S4U Sketch 8

I have managed to make a card for two challenges with this one. I have followed the sketch on 2 Sketches 4 You and the Cute Card Thursday Challenge was to use the colour pink. The image is a penny black stamp coloured in with whispers markers - unfortunately my novice colouring really shows through here! - the papers are from the Dovecraft Amethyst range and they are matted onto cream card, the sentiment is a silver peel off and I have added an iridescent flower and 2 little jems to finish it off. I started this card last night but ended up taking some bits off and starting again, I wasn't really sure where I was going with it..... and to be honest I'm not really sure where it has ended up!!!... hey ho, I'll live and learn!

Sarah Kay Challenge Week 9

The Sarah Kay week 9 challenge was to use the colours purple and green. For the card I used cream, lilac and green card, paper from the Dovecraft Amethyst range, three little iridescent flowers, two die cut flowers that I embossed a little so they would stand up from the card, a little gem for the centre of the flowers, the sentiment is a silver peel off and I used Whispers markers to colour in the image.

Penny Black Challenge 12

The Penny Black Challenge this week is "stars and stripes". This was my first attempt at colouring in a stamped image and I was quite pleased with how it turned out. I used white and green card, Dovecraft Retro Floral paper, a star shaped button and whispers markers to colour in the image.
